Located at 112 N. Prince St., Nooks will close Feb. 18.

Nooks, a children’s bookstore that recently moved to a bigger spot in downtown Lancaster, will close Feb. 18.

The bookstore originally opened in the fall of 2021 at 50 N. Queen St. and then moved in October to 112 N. Prince St. At the new location, Nooks had added more books as well as some toys.

Owner Emma O’Brien said she decided to close the shop because of the demands of her family, which now includes two young children.

“I was being pulled in two very different directions: a growing business and a growing family, both demanding 100% of my time, energy and love,” she wrote in an Instagram post announcing the closure. “Although this has been a really hard decision, I know it is the right one, but it doesn’t make it any easier.”

O’Brien said she is uncertain about future possibilities for Nooks but said she’s interested in seeing if someone else wants to continue the shop.
